Cameron Boozer’s triple-double put the Memphis Grizzlies rookie into the NBA record books after a strong early-season game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Boozer finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists as Memphis won 124-103 on the road. The result moved the Grizzlies to 5-0, matching one of the best starts in franchise history.

According to NBA.com, Boozer was 19 years and 103 days old when he recorded the triple-double. That made him the second-youngest player in NBA history to reach the mark, behind only Josh Giddey.

Cameron Boozer triple-double adds to fast NBA start

The achievement is even more impressive because it came in only Boozer’s fifth NBA game. He also became one of just a handful of teenagers to record a triple-double in league history.

Memphis selected Boozer with the third overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, and he quickly showed why many scouts ranked him among the best prospects in the class. He also helps Memphis in more ways than scoring. Against Portland, his rebounding and passing helped the Grizzlies control the second half.

Memphis also received strong contributions from its bench, while Portland struggled to keep pace after a competitive opening half. The Grizzlies’ unbeaten start now gives the team an early platform to build on as the season develops.

Why the record matters for Memphis

Young players often need time to adjust to the NBA. However, Boozer already affects games in several ways. A triple-double this early in his career will bring even more attention to his growth.

The next challenge is doing it every night. Memphis will want Boozer to keep making smart choices and stay calm as more attention comes his way.
