Vinícius Júnior’s availability for the next El Clásico has become a major talking point after the Real Madrid forward was sent off against Villarreal.

The Brazilian received a red card after VAR reviewed an incident in which he pulled Nathan Saliba’s hair. That dismissal has created one big question for Real Madrid supporters: will Vinícius play against Barcelona?

The answer depends on the length of his suspension.

Why was Vinicius Jr sent off?

Vinícius entered the Villarreal match as a substitute. Later in the game, VAR reviewed an incident involving Vinícius and Nathan Saliba. The replay showed Vinícius pulling Saliba’s hair, and the referee showed him a red card.

That means the forward now faces disciplinary action before Real Madrid’s upcoming league matches.

Will Vinicius play against Barcelona?

Right now, his participation is not guaranteed. The important detail is the length of the suspension.

Under the relevant disciplinary rules, violent conduct can lead to a suspension of more than one match. That is why the Barcelona fixture has suddenly become part of the discussion.

If the punishment is short, Vinícius could still be available. If the suspension is longer, he could miss El Clásico. Until the official ruling is confirmed, any headline saying Vinícius is definitely banned from the Barcelona match would be premature.

Could Vinicius miss El Clásico?

Yes, it is possible. That does not mean it is already confirmed.

The disciplinary decision will determine exactly how many matches he misses. For Real Madrid, the timing could not be worse. El Clásico is one of the most important matches of the season and Vinícius remains one of Madrid’s biggest attacking threats.

Why his absence would matter

Vinícius gives Real Madrid pace, direct running and one-on-one danger on the left side. Against Barcelona, those qualities can be extremely important.

His ability to attack space can force defenders deeper and create room for other attackers. If he is unavailable, Real Madrid would need to adjust their attacking plan, putting more responsibility on other forwards and potentially changing how the team attacks in transition.

Vinicius apologises

After the incident, Vinícius apologised. That does not remove the possibility of a suspension, but it shows he understood the seriousness of what happened.

Real Madrid will now wait for the disciplinary decision before knowing exactly how much football he will miss.

When is Barcelona vs Real Madrid?

Barcelona are scheduled to face Real Madrid on October 25, 2026. That is why the suspension decision matters so much.

Supporters will be watching closely to see whether Vinícius is cleared in time to feature.
