Rashford, Antony, and Sancho: Amorim Offers Manchester United Trio a Second Chance
United’s Loanees Could Return to the Fold as Summer Decisions Loom
Manchester United faces major calls this summer. Head coach Ruben Amorim has opened the door for Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho to rejoin the squad after their loan spells. Despite earlier exits, their strong performances elsewhere have forced a rethink at Old Trafford.
Rashford and Antony Shine Away from Old Trafford
Marcus Rashford has revived his form at Aston Villa. Under Unai Emery, he has delivered four goals and six assists in just 17 games. Rashford’s sharp displays have made him a key figure ahead of Villa’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Crystal Palace.
Antony has also impressed. At Real Betis de, he has netted five goals and set up four more across 18 matches. His performances helped Betis reach the UEFA Conference League semi-finals, where they will meet Fiorentina.
Jadon Sancho’s journey at Chelsea has been tougher. However, the winger still racked up three goals and 10 assists over 34 appearances. While less explosive, his creativity has proven valuable to Enzo Maresca’s side.
Amorim: “They Have the Talent We Need”
Speaking before United’s match against Bournemouth, Amorim praised the trio’s impact during their loan spells.
> “When you loan players in out, you want them to perform. That’s the best outcome,” he said.
Amorim emphasized their quality:
> “The talent of Rashford, the talent of Antony — they all have it. We are really happy with their performances. It’s good for the club.”
Despite past friction, especially with Rashford, Amorim suggested that each player could still have a future at United. However, they must prove they can fit into his high-intensity 3-4-3 system.
What’s Next: Transfers or Fresh Starts?
Each player faces a big decision once the season ends.
Marcus Rashford: Villa holds a £40 million option to buy. Rashford, though, is reportedly waiting to see if Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain make a move. He’ll decide his future after the season.
Antony: Betis would like to keep him, but finances could block a permanent deal. The Spanish club may pursue another season-long loan if possible.
Jadon Sancho: Chelsea’s £25 million purchase obligation has technically kicked in. Yet, the Blues can still trigger a £5 million penalty clause to send him back. If that happens, Sancho could land at another Premier League side.
