Canelo vs Mbilli takes place in Riyadh on Saturday, October 31, with the WBC super-middleweight title on the line. Christian Mbilli enters as champion, while Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is chasing the green-and-gold belt again after returning from elbow surgery.

The World Boxing Council confirmed the title stakes and the Riyadh venue. In January 2026, the WBC elevated Mbilli to full champion after he previously held the interim belt. Moreover, his pressure, volume and willingness to trade make this the biggest test of his career.

What is at stake in Canelo vs Mbilli?

For Mbilli, this fight is a chance to prove he can control the 168-pound division against one of boxing’s biggest names. For Canelo, the bout offers a route back to world-title status after losing his belts to Terence Crawford in September 2025.

Canelo still brings the deeper championship experience. However, Mbilli is younger, aggressive and unbeaten, so he is unlikely to give the Mexican veteran much time to settle. The early rounds could decide whether Mbilli can force the pace or whether Canelo can slow him down with timing and body work.

Start time and how to watch

DAZN lists the PPV broadcast for 5:30 p.m. UK time and expects the main-event ring walk at around 9:00 p.m. UK time. In addition, fans can watch the card on DAZN pay-per-view, although earlier fights can shift the exact ring-walk time.

Meanwhile, the main card also includes Jaime Munguia vs Nikita Zon, Rafael Espinoza vs Ricardo Blandon and Raymundo Rojas vs Reito Tsutsumi.

Why this fight matters

Ultimately, Mbilli has the chance to turn a title reign into a defining win. Canelo, meanwhile, can show that he remains a major force at super middleweight despite recent setbacks. Therefore, the mix of pressure, experience and title stakes gives the fight genuine importance beyond the headline name.
