Groups and the route to the final

Group A: FC Masar, Mamelodi Sundowns, FUS Rabat and Lekié FF. Group B: AS FAR, Kawempe Muslim Ladies, USFAS Bamako and Ampem Darkoa. The top two in each group advance.

Prize money and what to watch

The winner receives $600,000, compared with $400,000 for second and $350,000 for third.

A short group stage changes the pressure on every coach. A slow start leaves little time to recover. However, chasing a win too early can open gaps that turn one dropped point into three. The balance between ambition and control should be especially important in the opening matches.

Supporters should also look beyond the biggest names. A team’s ability to defend set pieces, recover after losing possession and manage substitutions can decide a close group. Those details often reveal more than the amount of possession alone.

The final group games deserve particular attention because matches in each group share a kick-off time. Teams may need to react to the other score while staying focused on their own game. That can change the risk they take in the closing minutes.
