Harry Kane wins 2026 Ballon d’Or after a record-breaking season for Bayern Munich and England. The 33-year-old finished ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal in the final voting, ending a 25-year wait for an English men’s winner.
UEFA confirmed Kane as the 2026 men’s Ballon d’Or winner on October 26 in London. His victory came after a season in which he scored 73 goals for club and country and helped Bayern complete a domestic treble.
Harry Kane wins 2026 Ballon d’Or after historic season
Kane’s case was built on more than one big moment. He delivered elite numbers across the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League, while remaining central to England’s attack.
61 goals in 51 games for Bayern
Kane scored 61 goals in 51 competitive appearances for Bayern during the 2025/26 season. According to Bayern, that was his best club season and one of the highest-scoring campaigns in the club’s history.
He also scored 36 Bundesliga goals and 14 times in the Champions League. Bayern’s official figures show that only Kylian Mbappé scored more in Europe in the Champions League that season, with 15.
73 goals for club and country
UEFA reported that Kane finished the campaign with 73 goals for Bayern and England combined. That output, alongside Bayern’s domestic treble, gave him a powerful case in the final vote.

How Kane beat Mbappé and Yamal
Mbappé finished second and Yamal third. Both produced outstanding seasons, but Kane combined huge scoring numbers with major team success. That balance appears to have separated him from his closest rivals.
Yamal also had a strong year and remained one of football’s biggest young stars. Ebuss Sports recently covered him in our story on Victor Osimhen and Lamine Yamal.
A historic win for England
Kane becomes the first Englishman to win the men’s Ballon d’Or since Michael Owen in 2001. The achievement adds the game’s biggest individual honour to a career already defined by goals for Tottenham, Bayern and England.
His England record also remains part of the story. Earlier this year, Kane scored the winner as England came from behind to beat DR Congo, a match covered in our England vs DR Congo report.
What comes next for Harry Kane?
Kane’s Ballon d’Or win will now become part of Bayern’s history. He joins club legends such as Gerd Müller, Franz Beckenbauer and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge among Bayern players who have won the award.
Bayern also confirmed that Kane won the striker award at the same ceremony. You can read the official confirmation from UEFA and the detailed season statistics from FC Bayern.
